What does Hyla Mean? Where did the Name Come From?

You might wonder where the name “Hyla” came from.

Hyla is a genus of tree frogs, and so to tree frogs, the term "Hyla" specifically refers to their own taxonomic group within the family Hylidae.

Hylid tree frogs are known for their arboreal nature, meaning they live in trees, woodland areas, and many species have specialized toe pads that allow them to climb and cling to surfaces.

Overall, "Hyla" is a term that is closely associated with tree frogs and their natural history.

As for why we picked it… The treefrog is Kate (our owner’s) favorite animal :)
